I am sure that if you are reading this, you have been approached not just once but many times about signing up into some kind of business opportunity which preaches residual income and financial success by building “organizations”. These organizations would have you call friends and family with the goal that you could sign up three and then those that you brought in would each sign up three…so on and so on! Each level of your organization would pay out to you a percentage of the profits.

Many people got involved with these kinds of opportunities but they typically just do not work. There are exceptions but those people worked hard to get to where they were. To make them work, everyone involved would have to sign up three or more people. You typically are given a sales script to use to help sign up the “prospect” you are talking to. The thing is though, who really wants to do that! Most people I know attended four years of college to learn sales and marketing!

As I said, there are many ways on the internet to make money online but because of the MLM phenomenom, we usually think MLM first.

Now..What Is The Best Way To Make Money Online?

I believe for most people it is MLM! There is twist here though. Now instead of approaching just friends and family and trying to talk them into getting into your business, you have millions of potential clients and affiliates by using the internet.

Instead of calling and talking to people, you can use what is called SEO (search engine optimization). This is where you obtain a web site or create your own. Based on keywords which are the words that a particular person would type into Googles’ search box, you try to get your web site to the first page of what your potential customer is looking for.

In this way, people are searching for “what you have”! If they come to your web site, you know there is a good chance they are interested in what you have got. It sure beats trying to talk your cousin Dave into buying vitamins from you, does it not!

There is a learning curve involved with doing this but if a person applies themselves, getting and having a home based business opportunity using the internet to make money online is the cheapest and most successful way of creating a healthy income for you and your family.

Should I forego my SEO and do the switch? I do not think so. Why should I stick with my SEO?

I usually do not get too many emails about free leads from those very generous lead selling scammer
companies through my email filters. For some reason though, I have had nine make it to my inbox the last few days. One was going to give me 50,000 business opportunity leads for free! I wonder what the catch would have been if I had looked into that at all! The 50,000 free business opportunity leads were the bait. No doubt they have some sneaky little scheme to part someone from their hard earned money if they were to respond to that email!

That is all those lead selling scammer companies are…bait and catch of unsuspecting people who might be new or a little desperate (like I was at one time), or they are just maybe a little naive!

You know what? People like these lead selling scammers are in all walks and phases of society and have always been! It is a downright shame people have to deal with liars, crooks, thieves, and cheats and be careful with just about anything involving money.

If you are new to network marketing or have been around for awhile but are looking at purchasing leads…Do Not Do It!

There are various ways of creating your very own business opportunity leads. I preach (SEO) search engine optimization because it is free and if you do the work and get listed on the top pages, you will reign in high level type leads generated from your own keyword phrase specific to your niche!

It does not get any better than that!

Is nothing an answer?

Well, yes it is! I really should not say nothing! If you want to be successful in getting to the top of the search engines (or should I just say Google), all you really need to do is concentrate on marketing and designing your web site as if search engines do not exist!

Well yes, you do need to be keyword smart and aware of how SEO works because you are trying to drive business opportunity leads to your web site. But really, if you have concentrated on what keyword phrases in your niche that people would use to find your site, you for the most part just want to concentrate on your content… “Content is King”!

One point I want to make is that if you design and market your web site thinking only about your visitors, you are actually doing the best thing you can do for SEO!

You should design your site to be somewhat rich in the keyword phrases you are pursuing.

You do want to stay away from using flash and Javascript too much as they cannot be crawled by search engines!

You do want to make your site a pleasing experience to whomever lands there and have good functionality to get around it. People do not want to try and figure out what to click on to get from one place to another or they will leave!

SEO is one thing but marketing is another. If my web site is at the top of the search engines for a keyword phrase that you searched for, you then click my link and land on my site…If you are not attracted to my site, you will leave!! What good did it do for me to use SEO and drive traffic to my business opportunity if you are all leaving! They say it takes seven seconds for a person to make up their mind whether or not they like a web site! The design and functionality of your web site is very important!

The point I want to make, is that Google is not your enemy! They are in the business of search engine advertising. They have one hundred or so algorithms to determine what sites should be ranked higher than others. If you are active and providing good original content and are very patient, you will succeed!

If you are starting your SEO journey, know that it takes time. Getting a brand new web site up to the top for certain keyword phrases can take “quite” a bit of time. There are algorithms in place to ensure that!

When it comes down to marketing, there are many things you can do. I do believe however that if the design of your web site attracts visitors and you are active doing things all of the time with your content, you will do fine!

Do not be tricky with your SEO… concentrate on your design and marketing for your “visitors”! Everything else will be there! Converting business opportunity leads to customers is what this is all about!

Google has a reported 75% of all search engine advertising. Yahoo commands between 11% and 15% of competitive search engine advertising. The two recently made a deal that would share resources. I am not sure what all of that entails other than the fact that Google would now have around 90% of the search market.

In my own experience with SEO (search engine optimization) using keyword phrases, getting to the top spot in search engines other than Google has drawn little to no traffic already.

Now what is going to happen?

Microsoft is challenging the agreement believing this creates a juggernaut. Google already was!

Regardless with whatever happens in the Google Yahoo deal, if you are getting started with SEO, you should have already been spending your time in pleasing Googles’ search engine. Yahoo, MSN, and all of the others combined are not even worth messing with! Doing the work it takes to get to the top of a keyword phrase search is free and…you are driving highly targeted business opportunity leads to your web site.

Avoid handing over your hard earned money to all of those scam lead selling companies out there! Leads generated via SEO is the way to go! These are the kinds of leads that will make your business opportunity successful!

What if I spent $7.00 dollars once a month and received that many leads? In one year I would have received six hundred thousand leads for only $84.00 dollars and by just converting 1% of those specially targeted business opportunity leads into my organization or with sales, it would be safe to say I am freaking going to be rich!

Do not bet on this!

Getting high quality business opportunity leads for your specific niche are not obtainable at that price. The first thing you need to ask yourself is why $7.00 dollars. Many people in marketing will throw a dollar amount of less than ten dollars because people will part with that kind of money easily. The thought process is “only $7.00 dollars… no big deal… I will check it out for that”!

Another thing, how much money do you think that business is making in generating and selling leads by the bushel for that kind of money? Not hardly anything… unless… they are selling those same leads to hundreds of people… maybe even over and over!

Where are they getting all of those opportunity leads? Everybody including me has some sort of personal information out there on the web floating around from some kind of means. These lowlife scammers have their “tools” that go out there and strip that info, build it into a list, and then sell to unsuspecting honest people hoping to jump start their own business opportunity.

Generating your own leads is the best way to go… especially because the leads you generate are more than likely highly targeted leads for your specific niche. If you feel that you must buy leads, there are some lead generation companies that are ethical. In my opinion though, You will have better results learning how to do this yourself. Especially if you are in business for the long run, I feel that generating your own business opportunity leads through SEO (search engine optimization) is the way to go!

I would like to show you a way…something you can do…on a daily basis that will force you to succeed. To some, this might sound a bit hokey but it works. I have applied it in my life and it absolutely makes a difference! Does it happen over night? No! It does take some work but if you apply it, you will see what I mean.

You might have heard of it on the internet or on Oprah or some other television show…

It is the Law Of Attraction in which thoughts are energy! What you think is what you are! I am sure you have heard the old adage that “What you eat is what you are. Same thing!

What you think about becomes your reality!

How do I know? I have applied it many times. Let me tell you where I am coming from and where I had experienced it first hand.

To make the story short, In 2003, I was in a situation in which I underwent surgery and was told I might not make it. All details excluded, I had clinically passed away several times but was able to hang in there. I had several surgeries before but to save me, I had to build up some strength to take on one last one. The odds were that I would not make it. The surgeons at the hospital gave me a CD and headphones with positive affirmations on it. They had me listen to it before and “during” the surgery. My six hour surgery took them only three hours and I miraculously got through it. This was at the Cleveland Clinic in obviously Cleveland, Ohio…one of the most prestigious hospitals in the world!

Obviously, I was pretty curious about the affirmations and I ran with it! I have studied this thoroughly and tested it out numerous times.

Getting back to the theme of this article, if you want your business to grow…”you” need to grow! You can not “think” you will not succeed. You must “know” you will succeed! Everything that occurs in your life is a direct reflection of what you think!

Here is what you do and this would apply to all areas of your life. It is simple!

For ten minutes a day in the morning, write down in a notepad whatever your heart desires but it has to be reasonable or your subconscious mind will not believe it. Writing makes your mind “think”. Write down positive affirmations such as “I now am successful! Everything has to be written in the “now”, not future. If you write “I am going to have lots of money! Well, that does not mean you have lots of money now. If means “going to” which if you say that every day…you will always be “going to”.

Never use negative words such as not, never, maybe…or whatever. You get the gist! There are many free ebooks on the internet which show you how to create your affirmations. Phrasing them wrong could be disastrous.

Either write this again at night or read from your list. Read from your list several times a day!

You are training your subconscious mind to be positive! If you have any rejection going on within yourself, you are sure to struggle. Start with something simple first. When you see something happen first hand because of the affirmations, you will gain much in confidence!

One of the things I thought about is something unique on the internet nobody else really does. Something that can help other people as well as me and generate many many many business opportunity leads for myself and others. I had several things open up to me and I am running with them. I know the two paths I am taking will be successful!!

Most if not all MLM businesses will have you approach friends, family members, or acquaintances with the hope that you will sign up some of them. The story you are told is that if you sign up three and they each sign up three, and “they” each sign up three, so on and so on, you will quickly build your business!

This NEVER works!

Why? Very few people can sign up one or two or even three using this method. None of these people went to college for four years and have a degree in talking people into opting into their business opportunity.

Most if not all MLM businesses offer ways in which you can purchase leads. If you could not talk your brother or sister into opting in with you…what do you think your chances are of talking strangers into signing up?

Zip..Ditto..Nil..Natta!

What kind or quality of leads are you receiving? No way of knowing but probably not good!

Now, most if not all MLM businesses do give you a web site or two and they (generally speaking) are very good at “selling” your business opportunity. The problem here though is that you can not change anything on the web site to optimize it for search engine optimization!

Here is what you have to do!

You need to purchase a domain name. Then, purchase the resources you need through a hosting company in which you could design your own web site! The reason for this is because you “can” optimize that web site for search engine optimization! This web site will become a landing page in which you could direct those business opportunity leads to the web sites that you were given for use in your MLM! Those sites are already designed to get your leads to sign up and you can make use of them for that purpose.

In my mind, SEO is the way to go if you want to build a business. In an MLM or any other type on internet business, if you want to generate business opportunity leads, you must have a web site that you have control of and a place to direct your traffic!

I am a good one to talk about this because I fell for almost a half dozen of them. They all say and do the same things except the product is different or the money making matrix they are using is new and enhanced. The ones I tended to fall for are the ones that say people in my up line are going to build my business for me and will ensure I have a profitable income. They will be there step by step to nurture me and help my business grow!

Another pitch that hooked me when I first began, is that I just need to sign up three and then teach those three to sign up three and so on and so on! To my knowledge, this approach never ever works! It fails as soon as any of those people do not sign up anyone. This approach is usually done by creating a list of one hundred of your friends, family, and acquaintances. These people do not want to hear about your business opportunity unless you can show them the money and prove what you are doing works.

A good one that can still entice me some to this day is the business opportunity that is in “prelaunch”. It is the dudes that are in pre-prelaunch that will make some money. I have been involved in several of those…each failed as far as I know! These sales people are good and even though I know better, I find some of these very tempting. In the past, I have actually been involved with multiple business opportunities not knowing what to do with any of them!!

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about how we have both been burnt in the past. If you would talk to him now though, you would know in five minutes he has got his act together with networking!

I believe that the saying “wisdom comes through suffering” is a very real statement. It is almost like you need to fail some before you get a handle on what you are doing. This applies to everything in life!

Wisdom and success can be achieved much more quickly though if you can latch on to others who have already “been through the mill” so to speak.

What is the message I want to give you? Do not believe hype! If the statements that are made in regards to money and success are true, why are you being targeted so hard for a particular business opportunity? You might even run across (more often than not) a deadline. A claim is made that if action is not taken by a certain time or date, you just might miss out! Do not buy into that!

If anybody claims that you “will” make this or that or do this or that or be this or that…delete it from your sight!

My message is this…Do not just join any home based internet business opportunity! Find a successful “person” who has been there and knows what they are doing…sign up with them! It is “who” you get involved with that will make or break you!

There are several things you can look at or observe over time but I believe that in reality…”there is much less than 1% of everyone out there doing the internet thing that are making money”!!

Why would I say that?

There are several things through observation over time that leads me to say that. First of all, it is fairly apparent that if you are doing SEO on a daily basis, you will experience this first hand! I am not talking about killing yourself here. If you put out content for whatever keyword phrase you are going for on an almost daily basis. I believe you can get within the first 100 pages in Google for your search term.

You might be thinking “big deal” but look at it this way. Let us say you are going for a search term that Google shows as having over 45 million sites. If you are in the top 100 pages, at ten listings per page, you are in the top 1000! Think about this again. Over 45 MILLION web site listings…you are in the top 1000!!

Do SEO for a keyword phrase that only has one million sites listed and again, if you know somewhat how to do SEO, you will be in the top 50 pages within a month!

Obviously, you do need to know what you are doing with basic SEO. Also, a portion of those websites are using other means to get traffic for their business opportunity leads. They might be using social networking, something viral, or whatever but this brings up another point.

If you go and take a look at many of those web sites, you can tell by looking that they do not know what they are doing! If you know what you are looking for internally on a given web site, you can do a right click on their site and view their source code. It will be apparent that it is all wrong.

Why would I bring up this number thing?

It makes you pause and think about what all could be wrong with network marketing…that so many people get involved with it only to lose time and money. Maybe those that “do” understand how to market are doing a disservice to others by bringing them in. Getting business opportunity leads and following up with them is one thing, doing all we can to help them succeed is another!

Google Toolbar does many things but I do not really want to get into them. I have to say though there are a few that come in really handy! I want to let you know about the one item that is helpful for monitoring SEO.

You will have to search the internet for “Google Toolbar” and then download the version that you will need whether it is for Firefox, Windows, etc. It is a short bit of code and the install goes quick. Once you have this loaded, on your browser bar, go to about the middle. There you will see an icon that says “Page Rank”. This is what you are looking for!

If you move your mouse and let it hover over that icon, it will show you the page rank for whatever web site you have pulled up. By clicking on the down arrow to the side of the “Page Rank” icon, you have other options which include Cache, Similar Pages, and Backlinks.

Clicking on “Cache” will show you the last time Google has last crawled that web site. This comes in handy if monitoring your web site or competition to see how often Google goes there. It also can give you an idea of keyword term positioning if you follow things closely. The option for “similar pages” does not really help you that much.

Clicking the “Back Links” option will tell you obviously how many back links that web site has. Good to know for what you and others are doing.

As I said earlier, there are other things this toolbar can do that definitely makes life easier on the internet but if you are using SEO for acquiring business opportunity leads, this toolbar is worth the download!

So there you go! A tool for monitoring Page Rank, site last crawled, and Back Links through the use of your browser!

First off, I have been involved with a number of these types of businesses. With MLM, it is not just about sales but about getting people to sign up under you in your matrix. A matrix is really a mathematical formula in which you would sign up (for example) two people and place them in what are called “legs”. Under these two “legs” or people would be two more legs for each. This would give you four positions and this would be the beginning of the matrix for each of them! In other words, 2 becomes 4, 4 becomes 8, 8 becomes 16, 16 becomes 32, and so on. This is the same for anyone who comes into that business. The idea here is that your business matrix would grow exponentially. Matrixes vary from company to company!

Every MLM company is different in the way they pay out but usually the money comes from the sale of the products. In other words, you need to purchase product to keep your business intact. Bonuses and “levels” are usually obtained to get you into higher payouts. This is always related to how many people are signed up under you in your specific matrix. Again, payout plans vary from business to business.

Okay, as stated, payouts are based on how many people are in your organization. When I say “organization”, I am talking also about what the people under you in “your” matrix have done.

This is key and what makes MLM alluring. Residual income can be obtained for you “yourself” based on what other people do in your organization! The more they achieve, the more “you” achieve!

You might hear the word “reciprocal” from time to time. What is reciprocal or…what can be called the “law of reciprocity”? Reciprocity is in reality, the “Golden Rule”. Biblically speaking, “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you”. Translate this into money or specifically MLM and I believe you could just use the term “duplicate”.

In other words, you build your organization and those in it would duplicate what you are doing. You then earn residual income based on what everyone else is doing. This could translate into a very handsome income.

You might be confused as to why I use the terms “residual” and “reciprocal”. I have heard both of these words thrown out there when it comes to MLM. Residual describes an ongoing streaming payout of
money for past accomplishments where as reciprocal is the basis of MLM as you are teaching and hoping those under you in your organization are “duplicating” your efforts!

Making others successful makes you successful! While they are attractive when you first get in, many of these businesses fail because of that duplication factor or lack thereof. Getting good quality business opportunity leads for MLM is also very difficult…unless you use SEO. But that is another story!

Like I said, I thoroughly enjoy getting ebooks, newsletters, free software, etc..

What I do “not” like though is having someone “sell” me something. I will bet you don’t like it either!

When people are giving stuff away, it is typically to get you on their list. That is okay! It is a great way to build a list and it is done all of the time by many many marketers. I will do the same some day. The problem I have noticed lately, is that as soon as I’m on someones’ list, they start bombarding me with sales letters. When I was just getting into marketing, I was okay with this to some extent but usually by the third sales letter, I would just unsubscribe.

Knowing what I know now though, If for whatever reason I end up subscribing to somebodys’ list and I get an email from them to “buy” something, I am “Gone”! I just simply remove myself from getting anything else from them.

This is why you do not want to do the same. Nobody likes being sold to! What you should do instead is slowly and steadily gain their trust. How do you do this? By teaching and guiding and giving information to your lead. By putting yourself in a position of authority!

Have you ever been fishing? Most everyone I know has at some point in time. I used to go daily. You don’t put a lure on the end of your fishing line and start casting to maybe hit a fish in the head and knock them out! You don’t put a hook on the end of your line and try snagging them! You use a lure or bait and “entice” the fish to take a bite. Once their hooked, you reel them in!

Over time, I have opted out of most lists. There are marketers though that have “reeled” me in. I enjoy being on their list and receiving information from them. I have been on their list for quite some time and do not plan on dropping out. Occasionally, these people will tell me about something that I can purchase that will help me out. I will sometimes buy! Why? Because I trust them! They have helped me grow in knowledge and have given me tools that are helpful. They have given me tips and hints and tricks (things that I can do) that have helped me in my business!

Do you see where I am going with this? If you have one hundred leads and don’t make a sale and they all opt out – what good were those one hundred leads? Do the above and your successful! Try to sell me something and I am gone! It is important what you do with those business opportunity leads once you get them!

Over time, in talking to others individually or writing articles about SEO, it is also clear that many people involved in network marketing do not know what SEO even is! I state this fact over and over whenever I write about anything…the fact that 95-97% of all people who have a home based internet business fail! The reason is because they do not know what they are doing! I know…I was there once!

I am giving the simple explanation for those who might have heard the term but do not know what it is!

I can tell you right now that, even though I do not know you, I know (if you have accessed the internet with a computer) you have browsed the internet using Microsoft Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape, or some other means. Maybe you were looking for a CD, book, or a specific function you need to perform like working on your car! When you did a search using Google or some other browser, you typed in specific keywords to get the best matching results specifically for what you were looking for. A page came up with web sites and an internet address specific for each one that you could click on with your mouse. There are usually many other pages matching your search term that follow.

It is on that first page that you are wanting to position your web site. You yourself are not going to scan
through dozens of search pages when there probably is a site somewhere at the beginning of your search that fits your needs! The bulk of those web sites that are not close to the top page of a search term are not making money.

This is what SEO is about! Using keyword phrases that many other people would use to do searches with and being on that first page where the bulk of the traffic is going to be. Getting top positioning can make any business opportunity successful! It is a simple plan and while learning how SEO works and applying it takes some work, the results can be incredible!

Before I begin, know that this is so very important! this is the first thing Google looks at for SEO and the title is the first thing that your viewers look at. They are going to either look or pass that article by…and all within a few seconds.

Just what should be in your title?

You want it all! You want that name recognition because what many people do not understand, most people sign up or buy into a business because of YOU! It has nothing to do with the business. SEO is very important as well. Do you know that at least 85% of all people who access a web site on a daily basis, do so because they were looking for something using keyword phrases in a search engine like Google! That is a big number!!

Here is what you should do. I always put my keywords into the very first part of my title. Maybe it looks dumb, I do not know and I do not care! It works! That is what Google likes! With the rest of the title, you should try and find some way to include one or more of those keywords if you can. Know that there are words that Google calls “stop words” which they always pass over. These are basic words like “an”, the”, “a”,…you get the picture. They are your very common filler type words. By knowing this though, you can maybe have keywords seperated by stop words and come up with a good title and a variation of your keyword phrase! Obviously for emails, you would not need to include keywords.

Use start words like who, what , when, where, or why! People respond to these because they consciously know they are going to be shown something or presented with something new. You can use what are called “magic” words. These are words that subconsciously almost force someone to open your email, post, or article. I could give you a list of the best of these words but in all fairness, I seldom use them. You can however, find them in any newspaper, magazine, or any other medium on a daily basis. You are bombarded with them all of the time. Just keep your mind open to what attracts you! You will soon have your list of magic words that you can use. Hint: The above word “magic” or “magically” is one of them!

I am not an expert by any means but I do know that most of my articles go within the top five to ten pages of the search term I am focused on. That is by using titles like the one above! If I can do it, I know for sure you can as well!

There are other things you can do but they are insignificant. Some people will even pay some search engine expert to get their site listed…big waste of money and the person doing it should be ashamed of themselves. Well, I do not know if I should say that! There are many ways in life in which we could save money if we just had the knowledge on how to do those particular things. Anyway…

Getting search engines to list and rank your web site can take quite some time. If you want that early start though to use SEO (search engine optimization) and start driving traffic to your business opportunity, here is something you can do which works every time. I know because I tested this out and it works great! It not only works great but often the same day!

One of the things you will definitely spend much time doing, is writing content…specifically article writing! When you submit your article to an article directory, just make sure it has a page rank of six or above! Quality article directories with the high page rank have search engines like Google and others regularly visiting their sites. Because they visit regularly, they often reindex the site (take a picture of it). If your article with your link is shown, once they get done crawling the article site, they will be spidering your web site.

Easy as that! Submit your articles to several high page rank article directory sites and you will get listed…probably that day! If you are doing SEO, you are writing articles anyway!

If you know someone who is getting ready to submit their web site, show them this. Maybe it will save them time and or money!

Aging of your domain name helps SEO!

Once you have purchased a domain name from a hosting company, it obviously is new to you. It is to Google as well! When I started out, I never really gave this much thought. Try doing battle with your competition for a top spot in the search engines though if they have a domain name that has existed for several years or more! It can be even months or more. Those things grow roots and can be firmly implanted in their location of the search engines for certain keywords. Obviously, that is not the only reason they are hard to compete with. They have done the other things they need to do for search engine optimization as well and have been doing so for quite some time. I believe though that having an aged domain name does give one an advantage.

I have read much about SEO (search engine optimization) and practiced it as well. I wish I could tell you I have seen this documented and everyone is saying the same things. I have seen conflicting viewpoints however. From my experience though and from talking to others, I do believe age counts.

Something else to consider is when you purchase a domain name, you can buy it for one year or more. It is to your advantage to get it for longer durations…two or more years if you can! Search engines give more weight to domain names that they know are going to be around much longer than the one year. I am not 100% sure of this but we are not talking about a great deal of money and if it is true, every advantage counts!

Whether or not you believe aging of your domain name is important or not, getting the correct domain name is in my opinion, the most important thing you do when starting your business opportunity. Might as well get it, list it, and then begin the other steps to building your business! The process of getting your business going could take some time if you are already working full time and have a family. Life sometimes gets in the way! If you have your domain name set up already, this is time where it can season and…every day counts! Might as well get a head start while you are working on the rest of your business!

You have paid out hard earned cash to get into a good business opportunity…and you have applied yourself by giving up countless hours of time learning about marketing, designing your website(s), proper sequential mailsets, hosting your account(s), setting up blogs, etc. etc. The list goes on and on! Or, maybe you are with an affiliate program and you really can not change the web site you are given. Much of the work is done for you by the parent company. There is still a huge learning curve involved with just knowing the product(s) and payplan. There is a huge learning curve in just knowing how to talk to your lead prospects!

Why Would You Ever Consider Purchasing Leads From Some Company Advertising On The Internet???

While I know that there might be good lead generating companies out there that “can” get specific leads for your niche, it is “really” “really” hard to believe someone is going to give me 50,000 or 100,000 “high quality specific for my niche” leads for around fifty bucks! I have even gotten emails from particular entities stating that they have a surplus of leads and I can acquire one “million” of them for around seven dollars!

Think about this, if someone is going to give me 50,000 leads for fifty to a hundred dollars, how many times would they have to do this for others just to make one thousand dollars for that week? Instead of you doing the math, I’ll tell you – at fifty dollars a crack, they are generating one million leads for one thousand dollars. They are not making much money – are they? Greatly enhance the numbers and it is still not believable. Realistically, businesses selling leads would have to sell “millions” of leads EACH WEEK to make me believe they are making money. There is the possibility they have other revenue generating streams of income but…

Bottom line is, if they are doing this to make money, numbers do not add up!

My guess here is that there are many scam companies out there selling and reselling peoples names over and over again….redistributing lists like they are candy. These parasites have got their grubby little hands all over the internet trying to suck up peoples names and IP addresses just to make a few bucks. Just like everything else in the world, these frauds are making it hard for legitimate lead generation companies that have your best interests in mind to exist!

There are good solid techniques for generating specific business opportunity leads but what I want to throw out to you is this:

If you or I….were to believe….all of these different companies and the amount of leads they say they could get for you, I believe these leads would have numbers “greater” than the amount of people “who are even using the internet” within one year! That is if you put all of these entities together. If it is too good to be true…it probably is!

I believe totally in just using SEO (search engine optimization) to generate business opportunity leads. If you feel though that you “just have” to purchase leads, I would be very careful in who you deal with. I definitely would do extensive research about that company before hiring them!

It is really getting bad out there in the world trying to make ends meet! Gas prices keep rising which is making just about everything else go up in price. Minimum wages will be going up quite a bit during the next few years which will make just about everything under the sun go up. In the not to distant future, retirement and collecting social security will be increased until you will have to be seventy something years old to collect.

Take taxes out and there is not a whole lot left for the time you have spent.

I can think of a few ways you can make a whole lot of money if you are lucky and know what you are doing. There is the stock market, real estate, inheritance, and lotteries. Do you fit in there somewhere?

It is a must to configure your title tag, headings H1, 2, 3 etc. tags correctly and your content should have good keyword density. Having a good page rank is actually much more important! There is a major misconception about this though.

Page rank is basically a number that Google gives your web site based on the popularity it has. The higher the number (ex. PR5 verses PR1) the better. This number is based on the amount of web pages (or votes) you are getting links from. Here is the deal though, those votes are not always the same. They are based on an algorithm where one vote or link might be important because of the web page linking to you is the more relevant and they might have a very good page rank themselves. You might have another link coming to your web site which might be worthless because of where it came from. It is very possible you can have a thousand links coming to your site and you will still have a low page rank because of the “relevancy” or importance that Google associates with those inbound links.

Look at it like this: A higher page “rank” will usually result in a higher “search engine ranking”. Here is the catch though.

Let’s say you have a web site in front of you in “search engine ranking” yet you have a much higher number of links and backlinks. This other web site might only have a small number of links going to it. If all of your links came from let’s say, a forum in which you yourself can manipulate, you will not get much in the way of page rank.

Let’s say they have a back link from a .gov site which is hard to get. They might have a much smaller amount of links, but the relevancy is much more important to Google. In this way, they would have a better position in “search engine ranking”.

You might have a better “page rank” but the more relevant web site is ahead of you. Search engine ranking and page rank are two different things yet they work hand in hand with each other. Because there are algorithms involved, a site could have a higher “search engine ranking” yet have a lower “page rank”. That seldom happens though, usually the higher page rank results in a higher search engine ranking.

Once you have completed thorough research and you have decided upon your particular business
opportunity, do another search on the internet under the companies name. Follow this up by searching under keyword phrases that you might use normally associated with the “product”  that company sells. Browse through the first couple of pages and see who is on the front pages for those search terms you came up with.

I am talking about going into this as if you know nothing about that business. What keywords would you type into the search bar if you are looking for more information about that particular product?

Reason #1: Lack of Knowledge. I have done this before myself. At a time when I didn’t know what I was doing (just getting started), I ordered (if I remember right) a block of 50,000 leads. I can’t remember what I paid for it but I think around 20 dollars. I was provided a web site in which I could track the leads as well. I sent out my email and didn’t even get one hit. According to the tracking I was given, nobody even looked at my email!

I could go on and say those leads were worthless but maybe it was me! I flat out didn’t know what I was doing. People (even if they saw it) discarded it like they do the hundreds of other emails they get each week.

Reason #2: Many Leads Suck! If you purchase business opportunity leads from someone, how do you know if they are any good?  You Don’t! There is no way of knowing no matter what you are told if those leads are genuine and not resold over and over again. I’m going to tell you a little story and show you something you can try.

Recently, my wife did a search on the internet for disposable contacts. She visited some web site that looked like it had some good deals. She later told me about it. She did not really have to say a word about it because guess what….I am getting emails multiple times every day from people who sell contact lens. She got picked up as a lead! You can do this yourself for anything and see what happens. Names, IP addresses, or whatever are scraped off the internet all of the time for the purpose of selling.

What you need to do instead of buying leads is to build your business and your name recognition and “generate” business opportunity leads through list building. First of all, this article isn’t meant to give you detailed instructions in choosing your keyword phrases. I want to just give you a common sense level of approach in just what you are trying to do when it comes to keywords. You need business opportunity leads and if you have gotten to the point that you are looking at search engine optimization (SEO), you want to be smart about it!

Let us do this by example. Go to Google and do a search for the keyword phrase “work at home”. At the time I was writing this, there were 177,000,000 million web sites listed for this keyword phrase. Using common sense, we can say that the URL’s on the first “X” amount of pages really (and I mean REALLY) know what they are doing. The web sites URL’s have probably been in existance for quite awhile as well! I believe the “aging” of a web site plays a big part in SEO as well!

Now it would be great if we could go to any one of the other web sites, (Google lists only the top 100 pages), and see what they are doing. I can tell you though that I have stumbled upon many sites and found that they were going after keyword phrases that will be just impossible to obtain. Why would anyone use the keyword phrase “work at home” as something they are going for, especially when they are just starting out? It’s because they really don’t know what they are doing. Are they stupid? No, or I would have to say I’m stupid too and I’m an internet engineer by trade. When I started trying to use the internet to make money, I had “no clue”, I just fumbled along. If you are doing this, you just don’t know yet and you’re fumbling along as I was. If you are reading this article though, now you know!

By the way, doing a right click with your mouse button on the front page of a web site and then clicking on view source will show you what your competitors are using for their keywords. It isn’t ethical to just use those keywords though and I believe it isn’t legal either. But…It does help in giving you ideas about what your competition is doing and you can learn from it as well!

Here’s a plan: Start searching on the internet for keyword research tools. When you find something you can use, start looking at keyword phrases in your niche market that are obtainable. You don’t have to go for the keyword phrases that are unobtainable…go after a keyword phrase that there isn’t so much competition and yet, if you can get to the front page of the search engine, you might get 20-30 business opportunity leads each day. Build off that and go after another keyword phrase that might get you 10-20 business opportunity leads a day. Now you are looking at about 50 a day. Think about this, of a certain keyword phrase, Google gets about 50% of the traffic. MSN and Yahoo get approximately 40% while all of the others make up that last 10%. Linking and the amount of links you have are essential for SEO. There are two kinds of links. One is in which you link to someone elses’ site from your own, the other is called a backlink in which another site links to you. Some people or documents you might read will refer to outbound and inbound links – outbound being the ones that start from your site. This isn’t an instruction manual on how to get those links, just to alert you that they are “Very” important when it comes to getting higher site rankings within the search engines. As far as linking goes, it is much easier to link to other sites than it is to receive them. What I “will” tell you is that there are good links and bad links – good backlinks and bad backlinks. Backlinks are more important to the search engines basically because these are other people linking to “your” site. This holds a lot more water than you linking to whatever. Those who link to your site are making a statement that they hold your web site in regard. The best kinds of backlinks are the ones that come from reputable sites or a site sharing your niche market. Bad links could come from link farms or generally speaking, disreputable sites. Backlinks tend to come in time in relation to the content or service you are providing. I know there are places on the internet where you can purchase good quality backlinks. It happens all of the time and as far as I know, you aren’t penalized for doing it.

I struggled for literally several months working on building a web site. Not to mention, I am the kind of person who wants everything to be perfect. That’s when a good friend of mine told me about Wordpress which is what millions of people are using for blogging. That was all good and dandy but I needed to design a web site where I have a main theme and I needed many “pages” related to the theme but under different topics. I needed that content to always be there and remain “static”, never changing. To my good fortune, Wordpress can do this through the use of plugins. As a matter of fact, there are many hundreds of plugins to address all of your needs.

If you are building a web site, take my advice and scrap the html. With Wordpress, there are thousands of existing templates to pick and choose from and you can have your website built literally in minutes. The plugins (whatever you decide to use to modify your website) load just as quickly. Other than placing your content into the web site, you are ready to start driving those business opportunity leads to your business. There are even plugins that will set your site up for search engine optimization.

One word of caution though. Not all templates are compatible with the various plugins and widgets available. Oh…widgets are plugins but they are used for your sidebars or columns. I ran into problems with some of the templates in this regard. If you decide to use Wordpress, check reviews on the template(s) you are looking at to make sure there are no reported problems. Sometimes picking and choosing a keyword phrase will breach into “other” keyword phrases. Actually, this is what you are wanting to do as well. Decide what keywords you would like to go for that have the flexibility to mix and match other keyword phrases at a later time! I’m hoping I can explain this…maybe by example.

By example, say that you are going for “work at home scams”. If you do a search in Google, you will find 815,000 sites listed for that search term. This is the amount of web sites figuratively for that phrase and it can be found in the top bar on the right hand side of your page. That search term would be easy to take normally by just doing a few things here and there with content because remember this…..most people DO NOT know what they are doing. When I first started learning about all of this, a friend of mine went after a keyword phrase he was wanting to get his leads from. A search in Google showed 1.5 million sites listed. I thought he was crazy for trying. He created a video and two articles to move all the way to the top 3-4 pages! He knew what he was doing and that keyword phrase was an extension of the keywords he was going for originally.

Now, look at “work at home scam”. It might be obtainable but let me point out to you what you “really” might be competing with. If you do a search for “work at home”, you will find 415 million sites. It is a phrase that a very large amount of people are using to search with at home. He who wins this has an enormous amount of business opportunity leads every day! Many people would love to be on the front page of a search engine for this one!

I want to point out two things. My first point is this. With the enormous amount of people going for this particular keyword phrase, I can guarantee the people on the first 3-4 pages know exactly what they are doing. Besides that, their web site has probably “aged” (been around and listed for quite some time). Because they know what they are doing, they more than likely have a foot in the door for other keywords phrases such as “work at home scams”.

My second point is this. No matter what phrase you are going for, if you know what you are doing, you are going to easily pass up many of those sites listed. But, being on the 3rd or 4th page isn’t enough. You have to “Win” this game and be on the 1st page if you want those business opportunity leads.
